There is currently a lot of work going on in the grounds of Hunterston Castle, not least in the Walled Garden.  It is a large undertaking bringing the garden back under control, but it will be worth it. The photo's below show how the garden looked at the time of the Clan Gathering in 2001, and then in April 2002.

The sound that you hear playing in the background was recorded in the grounds around Hunterston Castle at 6.30am in the morning. If you get the chance during the summer months to walk round the grounds, it is well worth an early morning walk, try it at the next Clan Gathering.

These first  pictures were taken during the Clan Gathering in 2001 Even though the garden was a bit overgrown, these pictures show that many of the plants are still flowering well. The pictures below were taken in April 2002, you can see just how much work has been done. The picture on the left, is the Hunterston Yew, there is much interest in this ancient Yew. The work in the garden has cleared the area around it as you can see.
