Clan Room
The Clan Council are pleased to announce that Madame Pauline,  has graciously donated a room within Hunterston Castle as a  Clan Room for Clan Association members. To Pauline we say thanks. It is intended that the Clan Room will be open on the last Sunday  of every month. If you have any items of Hunter memorabilia  or Family stories or Family trees, we would be delighted to  receive them for the clan room. It was appropriate that the first donation was the arrow (Order of the Royal Huntsman) presented  to Adrian by Madame Pauline.

Flodden
9th September 1513

It is the intention  that Clan Association members will once again return to Branxton hill to commemorate all the dead off 3 nations and especially John Hunter  14th Laird of Hunterston and all Hunters and Moorhead’s who perished  on that fateful day. Discussions have been taking place with organisers of Coldstream Civic Week in order that Clan Hunter Association Members  can take on an active part in the celebrations. The organisers have  advised that the Clan Association should only view the events this  year to see how things are organised and with the possibility of taking  part next year. The intinery would be as follows:

Coldstream [the  1st toun] Flodden Day

Thursday 8th August 2002
Cavalcade to Flodden

Presenting the Colours

At 11.30am the Earl Home will charge the Coldstreamer with his Flodden Day duties. The Coldstreamer will reply. The Countess  of Home will present him with the Home Colours. Followed by three cheers for the Earl of Home, the Coldstreamer, right and left men, will leave Market square for Lees Mill.

RideOut

12.00Cavalcade  leaves for Flodden
01.30Coldstreamer lays wreath at Flodden
02.00Flodden  Service on Branxton Hill
02.30Coldstreamer cuts turf to take back to Coldstream
03.00Cavalcade  leaves Branxton Hill for Coldstream
06.10app. Presentation  of Youngston Trophy for the youngest rider outside Townhall.
06.30Abbey  Ceremony on Tweed Green. Reading of the Royal Charter and laying of the Flodden Turf.

It has been suggested to me by the organiser of the Civic  week that is Mrs. Susan Bell, (Address available from Clan Officer),  that we (Clan Hunter] only go to view the day, with the intention of becoming involved next year 2003. I do not expect everyone to attend  especially our kin who hail from far away places. However this is a great day oot.

Our  usual visit to Flodden Field will take place on Saturday 7 September 2002. The intinery may well change this year, as there is the prospect of meeting up with other Clan Associations, at the Memorial.

This event has now been canceled, However , there will be a wreath presented  at the cenotaph,on Branxton hill on Saturday 7 September 02 at 16.15  hours this will be a private visit.

You will be notified of changes.
