Dear Kinsfolk
First of all I would like to wish you all a belated Happy and Prosperous New Year and to extend this to our sister associations overseas in Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina.
While thinking of 'overseas', on behalf of our associatin I would like to warmly congratulate Tom Hunter, Editor of The Hunters Horn, on being presented with the 'Order of the Royal Huntsman'. This is an award richly deserved, well done Tom.
Bill Hunter, our membership secretary, reports that our own association is quietly going from strength to strength. Our membership continues to increase and just as important (or even more so) everyone is paying their subscription on time.
To add more sugar to this Vera Hunter, our treasurer, informs me that at our AGM in April, after only 19 months in existence we will be able to make a donation to the Castle Restoration fund. You don't need me to tell you that in such a short time this is quite an accomplishment, so I thank the Executive and the Clan Council for all the hard work they have put in. I also thank you the members, for your support and confidence. This is backed up by the number of telephone

calls that I get, showing your keen interest in the clan as a whole and our association in particular.
There was a meeting of the council called last year, but because it was so close to Christmas it was deceided to hold it in Februrary this year and the venue was the Posthouse in Carlisle, a sort of mid-point, as the council members are spread across the country. The reasons for the meeting were mainly to plan theis year's AGM, which is on Saturday, 8 April and to also discuss our clan gathering next year. Details of the meeting appear elsewhere in this issue and will also form part of the agenda for the AGM.
I regret to inform you that Tom Hutner, the founding Editor of our excellent newsletter, has sent in his resignation from the post of Editor, also as a member of the Executive and Clan Council. Due to family and work commitments, he feels that he simply doesn't have the time to do justice to theis quite demanding job, so this issue will be hsi last.
I have known Tom since the beginning of our Association and I can honestly say that he and his family are some of the nicest people I know and he will be sorely missed and hard to replace.

Thank you for the great job that you have done Tom and all the best for the future.
Vera has once again offered to do the catering in April, a finger buffet and some hot soup just in case the weather is a wee bit chilly. The price per head will be the same as last year £4 and those who attended in 1999 will remembers just how nice that buffet was! If I can ask you to please return the booking slip (you will find it on page 3 of your newsletter) as soon as possible this will be a great help. If you don't want to deface your copy then simply write the information required on a scrap of paper and send with your cheque, made out to Vera Hunter (but not on a scrop of paper), to Vera at 6 Winnall Manor Road, Winchester, Hants. SO23 0NW.
It just remains for me to wish you all the best and we (Vera and I) look forward to seeing you at Hunterston in April.

A boy for Neil
Association member, Gordon Hunter of Gosforth, Newcastle Upon Tyne has written to tell us that once again he and his wife, Eleanor, are proud grandparents. Gordon and Eleanor's youngest son Neil and his wife Lynn had their first baby - a boy, weighing 8lbs 4ozs - at Perth Royal Infirmary on 26 November. The baby is called james Findlay 'with the accent on Findlay'. Neil and his family live in Glenlomond Village near Kinross. Gordon adds proudly 'We ourselves have three sons and this latest arrival brings our tally of granchildren to five - all boys!'
Our very good wishes go to Gordon and Eleanor and to Neil and Lynn on this happy occasion.
